The first to see breakfast being served are the cats in their shared loft.\u00a0
Mocas can\u2019t bear to wait for the food to land on his plate and tries to eat it whilst it\u2019s still in the air; when he fails, he ends up with bits of food stuck between his ears first thing in the morning. Boneca watches this spectacle with a touch of disapproval and sincerely hopes that her tin of wet food will be served to her in accordance with her usual demands. Vira-Latas hasn\u2019t fully woken up yet and would actually prefer to sleep for a few extra minutes.
On the way between the cats\u2019 loft and the pigeons\u2019 coop is the henhouse.\u00a0
In the morning, there\u2019s a knock at the door to let everyone know that the sun has risen and breakfast will be served in the courtyard.\u00a0
The first to leave are Heihei, the rooster on duty, who almost always rushes out of the house because he\u2019s overslept and wasn\u2019t the one to announce the sunrise. He runs out into the yard so that at least he can be the first to tell the hens that their food is \u2018on the table\u2019.\u00a0
Heihei never comes on his own, and even if he wanted to, he couldn\u2019t, because Dwight follows him around like a shadow.\u00a0
Dwight is the guard on duty, always ready to face any threat, even though there aren\u2019t any\u2026 He wakes up shouting at the top of his lungs that \u2018he\u2019s got everything under control\u2019 and that the \u2018perimeter is secure\u2019, and only then does he let the impatient hens through so they can have their breakfast and start their day.
In the pigeons\u2019 communal area \u2013 shared with the tortoises and, at certain times of the day, with Natacho \u2013 nobody causes any major stress. Breakfast is served and eaten at a leisurely pace as a family, to the sound of \u201cGood morning, everyone!\u201d from the neighbour next door.\u00a0
On the other hand, Cigano wakes up at his own pace and knows he\u2019s in for a good day when the ground outside is dry; there\u2019s no greater threat to this horse than a puddle of mud in his garden, and unfortunately this is the sort of attack that not even Dwight can protect him from.
By the time breakfast is served, the rest of Albertina\u2019s garden is already back to its usual level of activity.\u00a0
Dwight and Heihei plan security perimeters and attack tactics against their non-existent enemies, whilst the hens take mud baths and look for the most unlikely place to lay eggs that nobody will ever find.\u00a0
By this time, the cats\u2019 loft is already empty. Mocas is causing some sort of chaos; Boneca is giving him a disapproving look, but she\u2019s not going to stop him either; and Vira-Latas is sleeping in the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
